The Project Undertaken by AETDEW Fellow Dr. Qi Yuansheng Won the First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the 2023 China Printing and Equipment Industry Association 18 February 2024

On February 18, 2024, the China Printing and Equipment Association announced the results of the 2023 Science and Technology Awards. the Project “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Packaging and Printing Industry VOCs Deep Comprehensive Emission Reduction Treatment Technology Research” won the first prize of the 2023 China Printing and Equipment Industry Association Science and Technology Award. The Project was undertaken by Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Participating units include China Printing and Equipment Industry Association, Beijing Academy of Ecological and Environmental Protection, Beijing Huachuang Langrun Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing University of Technology. It is reported that there are 24 award-winning projects in this science and technology award, including 17 science and technology awards and 7 patent awards.

AETDEW fellow Prof. Qi Yuansheng is the overall person in charge of the project, responsible for the organization, planning, implementation and coordination. The project aims to solve the pain points and difficulties of VOCs governance in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei packaging and printing industry, promote the in-depth treatment of VOCs in the whole process of the industry, establish a demonstration project for VOCs control and deep emission reduction, build a technical system for regional joint prevention and control, and provide a series of targeted technical solutions and policy suggestions for the in-depth comprehensive treatment of VOCs for relevant departments and industries in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. It not only provides strong technical support for the State Council’s “Three-Year Action Plan for the Blue Sky ” and the “13th Five-Year Plan” Volatile Organic Compounds Pollution Prevention and Control Work Plan, but also makes positive contributions to the environmental improvement and air quality improvement in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, which is of positive significance for promoting the ” the Blue Sky Plan” and achieving the air quality goals in the “Beijing Blue Sky Action Plan”. It is expected that the project will drive the total VOCs reduction of the packaging and printing industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
