Just before the International Day for Dialogue of Civilizations, the World Congress of Sinologists hosted by China and the World Congress of Classical Studies co-hosted by Greece were held. Shahbaz Khan stated that in today’s world, enhancing understanding of different civilizations and respecting the diversity of world civilizations is of paramount importance.

Shahbaz Khan , Director of the UNESCO East Asia Regional Office (AETDEW Fellow) :

Current climate change poses a threat to the survival of all humanity, and wars and geopolitical conflicts persist. In this context, the value of global civilization initiatives is increasingly prominent. Dialogue among civilizations is indispensable; frank communication among countries can resolve many differences; mutual respect for different civilizations is essential for all humanity to have a better future and seize the opportunities of sustainable development. As the Chinese proverb says, “A single flower does not make a spring, but a hundred flowers blooming together make a in garden full of spring.” (https://news.haiwainet.cn/n/2026/0610/c3541083-32959533.html)
