11 August 2025, Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia (BIM) – AETDEW President Ir. Ts. Kok Beng Choo , Ir. Lawrence Tan (AETDEW Treasurer) and Dr. Yap Kian Lim (AETDEW Executive Secretary) meet up with Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia President- Prof Chm Dr. Juan Joon Ching (BIM President) for a discussion on the collaboration between the two organisations. The Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a productive meeting with Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia (BIM), reaffirming our shared commitment to advancing AI literacy across the nation.
Recognising Malaysia’s potential to become an AI-literate society on par with global leaders such as China, the discussion underscored the importance of embedding AI education from the earliest stages — from schoolchildren and university students to continuous professional development.
A key outcome of the meeting was the proposal to establish a dedicated AI Human Resources Development Programme Working Group. This group will explore strategies, foster partnerships, and promote knowledge exchange to benefit the wider community, including industry professionals.
AETDEW looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with BIM to harness Malaysia’s capabilities and position the nation as a future leader in AI technology.
