AI Teacher Training Programme for Malaysian and ASEAN 05 March 2025

Kuala Lumpur, 5 March 2025 – In an innovative stride towards modernising education and underscoring Malaysia’s leadership as the ASEAN Chairman for 2025, key stakeholders KL, UNESCO ISTIC, AETDEW and Sri Bestari Private School convened this morning at the ISTIC office to finalise plans for an upcoming training workshop explicitly designed for teachers for Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.

The training workshop will be conducted by three AI education experts from China led by AETDEW Fellows Professor Han Liqun and Shao Shuying. China leads the world in AI innovations and applications. The foundation has been laid by AI education from kindergarten, primary and secondary schools, tertiary education institutions and post graduate AI training in industries in China. Through AETDEW, Malaysia and ASEAN AI Teachers will learn from China’s expertise and experience.

Commencing at 11:00 a.m., the meeting saw a thorough discussion covering all logistical aspects, from lodging arrangements to selecting relevant AI teacher participants from Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.

This AETDEW initiative aims to empower educators with the essential knowledge and tools to harness artificial intelligence in enhancing teaching methodologies and produce AI savvy human resources to anchor AI empowered economy in South countries. The June 2025 training workshop will last 3 days and will be hosted by Sri Bestari Private School in Kuala Lumpur. This will be the start of a sustaining AI Teacher Training Program in Malaysia, other ASEAN countries, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa in the next few years.
