Academician Dato Lee Yee Cheong had a very fruitful discussion on 11 October 2025 with AETDEW Fellow Professor Han Liqun, newly elected AETDEW Fellow Yu 余长安 and Miss 金明晔 representing newly elected AETDEW Fellow Xiong 熊方军. Both AETDEW Fellows Yu and Xiong are from Chengdu. We accepted their kind offer for Chengdu to be the China Secretariat of the Consortium for AI Education of the Global South. Together with Professor Han Liqun, there will work with the Consortium Secretariat Malaysia to develop the Constitution and Governance of the Consortium. In both China and Malaysia, many agencies and organisations have shown interest in joining the Consortium. Chengdu Secretariat will plan AI Teacher Training Program in China and Malaysia for the next two years. Chengdu will host the first team of 5 Malaysian AI teachers for a week including attendance of a three day AI teacher training workshop in 2026 under the AETDEW China-Malaysia AI Teacher Exchange Program. The meeting was followed by a sumptuous lunch hosted by AETDEW Fellows from Chengdu.
